OVERSEAS TRAINING 2010
Adelaide July 26 & 27th, 2010
Changing Narratives - Changing Lives’
This workshop illuminates those practices that allow us to effectively engage with the following questions:
- How do we reflect curiosity as a practice?
- How do we position the people we work with as active participants in life? This includes being active participants in the therapeutic conversation.
- How do we create the experience of movement and thus change through dialogue?
- How do we expose the way the ‘self’ is measured?
- How do we negotiate the meaning people attribute to the experiences they have within the therapeutic relationship?
- How do we find words for what is known but unexpressed through language.
- How do we (practitioners) use the multiple themes that arise throughout the therapeutic conversation?
- How do we develop questions that explore a possible link between two or three conversational themes?
- How do we explore the context within which experiences arose?
- How do we pull conversational threads together and generate a change provoking narrative platform?
Those characteristics that shape effective therapeutic relationships, such as, collaboration, respect, compassion, honesty, trust and integrity are more likely to flourish when you use the practices outlined in this workshop.
